1. VCI driver installation
The first step is installing the IXXAT VCI driver. It is very important
to perform this step prior the USB-to-CAN adapter is plugged in for the first
time.
- Insert the HAAKE PolySoft software into the CD drive of your computer.
- Start the program vci216.exe to install the IXXAT VCI driver.
- Press the Next button on the Welcome page,
- activate I accept the agreement and press the Next
button,
- read the installation instructions and press the Next button,
- confirm the software location and press the Next button,
- confirm to copy the code example files even if they are not required,
and press the Next button,
- confirm the IXXAT software location in the start menu and press the
Next button.
- The setup program will sum up all selections on the next screen page.
- Press the Install button to start the copy process.
- When the installation step is finished, the software prompts You to
restart the PC. It is important to restart Windows prior plugging in the
adaptor for the first time.
2. Hardware installation
- Plug in the adaptor to an USB port of the PC,
- Windows will recognize the new hardware and a wizard to setup the
hardware will pop up.
- Select Automatic install driver and press the Next
button.
- The wizard will automatically copy the required files from the CD.
- If the installation step is completed, press the Finish button
to close the wizard again.
3. Check hardware
Is is very important to follow these steps, as they finally prepare the
hardware for use with the HAAKE PolySoft software.
- Open the Control Panel from the Windows® Start menu.
- Switch to the Other Control Panel Options view.
- Start the IXXAT interfaces applet.
- Double click on the entry USB-to-CAN compact to elapse the
tree.
- Check that the checkbox DOWNLOAD is active and,
- check that the checkboxes LOGGING and VERIFY are not active.
- Press the Test button to perform a hardware test.
- If the board info dialog shows the message Hardware Test was
successful, the USB-to-CAN compact interface is ready to use with
the HAAKE PolySoft software.
